Our centre offers the best training and assessment environment and all our qualifications are delivered to the approved standards within the highways industry. We offer fully accredited Lantra training to the NHSS 12a/b, 12c and 12d standards. Courses we offer

NHSS TTMBC – Temporary traffic management basic course.


Duration – half day Group size – 12 learners max After completion of this course a multiple-choice test will need to be completed with a pass of 75%. This course is for all people starting work for the first time within the temporary traffic management sector and for those people that do not hold any NHSS registration cards, the aim of this course is to provide the learners with the necessary knowledge and skill to assist them in becoming a competent member of a traffic management team who are intending to work within sector schemes 12a/b, 12c and 12d.




NHSS 12 D M1 – Moving Works On A Single Carriageway.


Duration – half day Group size – 12 learners max After completion of this course a multiple-choice test will need to be completed with a pass of 75%. The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the necessary knowledge and skill to enable them to install the correct traffic management requirements to carry out moving works. Learners must hold a current TTMBC qualification to attend this course.




NHSS 12 D M1-M2 static works on single carriageway.


Duration – 1 Day Group size – 12 learners max After completion of this course 2 multiple-choice test will need to be completed with a pass of 75%. The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the necessary knowledge and skill to enable them to install, alter and dismantle temporary traffic management control methods on single carriageway roads, upon successful completion candidates will need to carry out a set of practical assessments within 2 years to become a 12D M2 skilled worker.




NHSS 12 D M3 - Lane closures on dual carriageways 40mph + below


Duration – half day Group size – 12 learners max After completion of this course a multiple-choice test will need to be completed with a pass of 75%. The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skill to be able to install the correct temporary traffic management systems on dual carriageway roads 40mph or less. On completion the learner will need to complete a set of onsite assessments within a two-year period of course completion.




NHSS 12D M4 - Convoy working


Duration – half day Group size – 12 learners After completion of this course a multiple-choice test will need to be completed with a pass of 75%. The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skill to be able to carry out convoy works on all 2 way and dual carriageway roads. To become a 12d M4 operative the learner must be registered as a 12d m2 operative and complete an onsite assessment.




NHSS 12D M5 - Multi-phase traffic lights


Duration – half day Group size – 6 learners After completion of this course a multiple-choice test will need to be completed with a pass of 75%. The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skill to install and dismantle multi-phase traffic signals. On completion of the T5 course the learner will need to complete a centre based assessment and 1 site-based assessment to become a qualified M5 skilled worker.




NHSS 12D M6 (RLTMO) - Registered lead traffic management operative.


Duration – 2 Days Group size – 8 learners A classroom-based course with an examination consisting of two test papers with a pass of 75% This course is aimed at all candidates that hold the current 12D M2 qualification and would like to further their knowledge and skills to be able to become a supervisor and supervise a gang or gangs.




NHSS 12D M7 – Managers and client officers.


Duration – 2 days Group size – 12 learners Classroom-based course with an examination consisting of a written examination with a pass of 75% this course is targeted at all levels of management, client officers, technicians and any person not actually installing temporary traffic management(ttm), but requiring a understanding of basic practice of (TTM) on urban and rural roads.




NHSS 12 AB - High speed traffic management general operative


Duration – 1-day Group size – 8 learners After completion of this course a multiple-choice test will need to be completed with a pass of 75%. The aim of this course is to provide the learner with the necessary knowledge and understanding of static temporary traffic management on motorway and high-speed dual carriageways. Learners must hold a current TTMBC qualification and completed a minimum of 3 months prior experience. On completion of this course the learner will be required to undertake a set of site based assessments to be able to become a 12AB general operative skilled worker.





Assessments we offer

NHSS 12AB High speed traffic management operative assessment


Duration - one day or night assessment Group size – 2 2-week gap between each assessment. The aim of these assessments is for the learner to demonstrate an understanding of the process to safely to install maintain and remove traffic management schemes on motorways and high-speed dual carriageway roads. These assessments are for anyone that holds a valid 12ab training certificate. On completion of a minimum of 3 assessments the learner will be issued with a 12AB general operative skilled worker card valid for 5 years.




NHSS 12D M1-M2 Assessments


Duration – 1-day Group size – 6 learners 2-week gap between each assessment The aim of these assessments is for the learner to demonstrate an understanding of the process to safely to install maintain and remove traffic management schemes on single carriageway roads. These assessments are for anyone that holds a valid 12D M2 training certificate. On completion of 3 assessments the learners will be issued with a 12D skilled worker card valid for 5 years.




NHSS 12D M3 Assessments


Duration – 1day or night Group size 4 learners The aim of these assessments is for the learner to demonstrate an understanding of the process to safely to install maintain and remove traffic management schemes on low speed dual carriageway roads. On completion a skills card will be issued and valid for 5 years.




NHSS 12D M4 Assessments


Duration 1 day / night Group size – 4 learners The aim of these assessments is for the learner to demonstrate an understanding of the process to safely to install maintain and remove traffic management schemes on single carriageway roads. On completion a skills card will be issued and valid for 5 years.




NHSS 12D M5 Assessments


Duration – 1-day Group size – 4 learners The aim of these assessments is for the learner to demonstrate an understanding the process to safely to install maintain and remove multi-phase traffic management schemes on single carriageway roads. On the completion of two successful assessments a skills card will be issued and valid for 5 years.





Street Works 

NRWSA unit 2 - Signing lighting and guarding


Duration – one day Group size – 6 learners The aim of this course is for the learners to demonstrate competency of installing and removing signing lighting and guarding.




NRWSA unit 10 – Monitoring signing lighting and guarding


Duration – one day Group size – 6 learners The aim of this course is to provide the learners with the knowledge and understanding to perform supervisor duties.
